Learn the Fundamentals of Teaching Yoga and Meditation in Military Communities in an in-person training in Kailua, Hawaii. This course goes beyond our Level 1 Warriors at Ease on-line training and includes modules on Moral Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, and Post Traumatic Growth as well as a teacher practicum. A portion of your tuition goes directly to supporting Hawaii-based Warriors at Ease programs.
In this course you will learn:
~ Dynamics of military culture, what's behind the stats as well as trends in veteran and military communities
~ A basic understanding of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, Moral Injury & Post Traumatic Growth
~ Guidelines for teaching a trauma-sensitive class and how to adapt any style of yoga to effectively support veteran students or anyone who has experienced trauma
~ About the nervous system and how to use yoga and meditation therapeutically
~ How to respond to abreactions
~ How to create and maintain safe and effective boundaries
~ About the latest research on yoga/meditation as an adjunct therapy for veterans with PTSD, valuable resources, and local networks
~ How to start a local yoga/meditation class for service members/veterans/families, connect with veteran service organizations offering yoga, get in to the VA system, and/or offer a class on a military installation.
This course is facilitated by Susan Alden (Army Veteran, E-RYT, YACEP, Executive Director of Warriors at Ease) as well as Major Robin Cushing, PhD (RYT & Active Duty Army Physician Assistant who has studied yoga as an adjunct therapy for post-9/11 veterans with PTSD).

All students will receive a Warriors at Ease training manual and helpful resource information. Upon completion of training, all students will receive a Certificate of Completion. Certified meditation teachers and Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teachers will be listed as a Warriors at Ease trained teacher on our website and have follow-on opportunities to attend our advanced training in order to become a Certified Warriors at Ease Yoga/Meditation Teacher.
Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teachers can receive a total of 16 CEUs for this training (14 contact hours and 2 non-contact hours).
